The Tartan Backgrounds on the Clan Brodie pages are all different Versions of the Clan Brodie Tartan. From my research, I have found 14 different Clan Brodie Tartans. A couple are variations on the dye or the weave. I have some of these posted on the web at this moment. The Scottish Tartan Society lists eight. At a future date I hope to have all versions of the Tartan that I can find listed posted on this Web Site. I have heard that there are up to twenty-seven (27) different Brodie Tartans. We are trying to authenticate these tartans. To me (the webmaster) it is not suprising that there would be so many. I would venture to guess that most of these are variations in the dye or the weave. All of these tartans are variations on the same pattern. As the Clan claim ties to antiquity, why would there not be many slight, or major, variations in our dress? |
